Big Sean’s fans were eagerly marking their calendars for August 9, but the Detroit rapper recently hit pause, announcing a slight delay for his much-anticipated album ‘Better Me Than You.’
Sean took to Instagram to break the news. In the comments section of a post, one fan questioned the rapper’s cryptic caption that hinted at the delay. Sean clarified, saying the album is complete but organizing listening events and shows might need an additional week or two.
Meanwhile, amidst the album’s final touches, Sean was spotted soaking up wisdom from one of Hollywood’s biggest stars—Will Smith. In a TikTok clip, Smith shared some deep advice that seemed to resonate with the rapper. ‘When somebody hits rock bottom and can go no lower, you need to get your shit together or you die,’ Smith explained, likening rock bottom to what he calls ‘cliff top.’
The words struck a chord with Sean, who nodded along as Smith continued, ‘Cliff top is either you find God or you die ’cause there’s nothing else here for you.’ Sean captioned the video, ‘@WillSmith dropping [gem emoji]’s,’ indicating the significance of the advice.
Beyond the album delay, Sean has been broadening his horizons. Fans might remember his acting debut in BET’s ‘Twenties’ and his appearance in the 2023 ‘House Party’ reboot. Now, he’s diving into the world of literature with his new book ‘Go Higher,’ which focuses on mental well-being and personal growth. The book explores five practices for purpose, success, and inner peace, aiming to help people maximize their potential.
Though fans may have to wait a tad longer for ‘Better Me Than You,’ Big Sean is making it clear that the extra time is being used wisely. With new music, acting roles, and a book on mental health, he’s proving there’s more to him than just beats and rhymes.
