Beanie Sigel, the fearless rapper from Philadelphia, didn’t just hone his lyrical skills during his time behind bars; he emerged with a new talent – cooking.
While chatting with Philadelphia radio host Mina Say What, Sigel explained, ‘When I went away, I didn’t just sit around. I took up culinary.’ His goal was simple: to earn certifications and eat better. But it wasn’t just about feeding himself. He surprised many by saying, ‘I ain’t cook for the prisoners. I cooked for the guards. They eat different!’
Sigel’s time in prison added a new chapter to his life that he is now sharing with others through his food truck venture, ‘Grab & Roll, Wings & Bowls,’ located at 2400 Passyunk Ave in Philly. Open Wednesday through Saturday, the truck serves up flavors that nod to his musical past, with delicious items like cheesesteaks, chicken wings, and fried seafood.
The truck’s motto, ‘Bringing flavor to the streets!’ gives a glimpse of Sigel’s new passion. From ‘Da Bully Burger’ to breakfast and desserts, his menu is a testament to the culinary skills he developed while serving time.
