A$AP Rocky has officially released the psychedelic video for his new single ‘Tailor Swif.’ Initially set for his upcoming album ‘Don’t Be Dumb,’ which now has an unspecified fall release, the video comes as a treat after the song leaked earlier.
The video was filmed in Kyiv, Ukraine, and it’s a visual feast with unique characters, elaborate costumes, and wild scenes that match Rocky’s signature style. Rocky recently described his album as a mix of ‘German expressionism’ and ‘ghetto futurism,’ giving fans a taste of what to expect.
‘Tailor Swif’ first debuted during Rocky’s Rolling Loud Portugal set in July 2022, but both the song and its visual were leaked online days later. Despite initially being frustrated by the leak, Rocky decided to embrace it and release the video officially.
‘Don’t Be Dumb’ will be Rocky’s first album in six years, following up on 2018’s ‘Testing.’ Rocky has called it the ‘best album he’s ever made,’ noting that it dives deeper than his previous work. ‘I’m an OG now,’ he said, reflecting on the project’s more mature themes.
One standout track, ‘Shroom Cloud,’ tackles current events and world crises, showing Rocky’s evolution as an artist. He even played some tracks for director Tim Burton, who was impressed. Though Burton couldn’t create the cover art, his frequent collaborator Danny Elfman contributed musically.
The album also features production by heavyweights like Metro Boomin, Tyler, The Creator, Pharrell, Madlib, and Mike Dean, adding to the anticipation.
Rocky’s ‘Tailor Swif’ video is just a taste of the experimental and mature sounds awaiting fans in ‘Don’t Be Dumb.’
