9th Wonder is back in the spotlight with an exciting tease for Hip Hop fans. Just days after the release of Common and Pete Rock’s joint album, the renowned producer hinted at another potential blockbuster collaboration.

On Friday, July 12, 9th Wonder took to social media to share his thoughts on the state of the genre. “This Common and Pete Rock album begs the conversation I’ve been having with folks for at least 20 years now,” he wrote. “Adult Contemporary Hip Hop needs its own category. Word to DO IT ALL from Lords of The Underground….we’ve been said this homie!!!”

But that wasn’t all. The former Little Brother producer also tagged Smif-N-Wessun, hinting at a potential collaboration with the Brooklyn duo. “Our turn,” he wrote, adding fuel to the fire of speculation.

And it’s not just his peers that have caught 9th Wonder’s attention. Following Latto’s electrifying performance of “Sunday Service” at the 2024 BET Awards, he praised her skills as an MC and pondered her future potential. “Man.. The opening sequence of that @Latto performance,” he tweeted. “Man Latto can rap. I wonder what she would sound like over a beat that sounds like ‘Unbelievable’ by Biggie?”

When a fan suggested that “A lot of rappers would sound better over better beats,” 9th Wonder shot back, “Nah. CAPtain Crunch…what a CAPtivating response. Lots of better beats can’t save rappers….you may ignore the rapper but it can’t save them..Its presence as well…if she sounds that good over that…imagine the latter.” He further emphasized the importance of tone, presence, and flow as the hardest techniques to master.

The 2024 BET Awards were a star-studded affair, not least because of 9th Wonder’s commentary. The event saw an All-Star tribute to Usher. Childish Gambino kicked things off by covering the R&B legend’s 2001 hit “U Don’t Have To Call.” This was followed by a medley of Usher’s greatest hits, performed by Keke Palmer, Summer Walker, Coco Jones, and more.

Among them, Latto closed the show with a powerful rendition of Ludacris’ part in “Yeah!” It was a night filled with unforgettable performances, all adding to the anticipation surrounding 9th Wonder’s future projects.

With his eyes firmly on both his iconic peers and the new generation of talent, 9th Wonder continues to be a significant voice in the Hip Hop community. Fans are eagerly waiting to see what collaborations and projects he will unveil next.
