50 Cent isn’t sweating over his ‘Power’ series missing out on awards. The entertainment icon shared on Instagram the viewpoint of Gianni Paolo, a ‘Power Book II: Ghost’ actor, who highlighted their show’s absence in awards conversations despite impressive viewership.
50 Cent, a renowned figure in the entertainment world, isn’t losing sleep over his ‘Power’ series not bagging awards. The rapper-turned-mogul recently reacted on Instagram to thoughts shared by actor Gianni Paolo, a star of ‘Power Book II: Ghost,’ about the show’s recognition struggle. Despite being hugely popular and achieving stellar ratings, the ‘Power’ universe hasn’t been pitted against critically acclaimed dramas like ‘Succession’ and ‘The Bear.’
Gianni Paolo openly questioned why shows like ‘Power’ aren’t getting the same spotlight, noting that other shows with similar viewership would see their actors catapult to fame without further auditions. He compared ‘Power’ to classics such as ‘The Wire’ and ‘Snowfall,’ both considered top-tier but similarly snubbed by awards. Paolo pondered if the lack of awards was due to its predominantly Black audience, candidly asking: “Is it the Black audience that they don’t like? Is it the Black show?”
50 Cent, unfazed by this lack of awards, wrote that he’s more invested in reaching a larger audience, surpassing conventional measures of success. “It’s diversity we are still working pass old school thinking, I’m fine with surpassing other shows’ true accomplishments by reaching a bigger audience,” he said, emphasizing a broader outlook over traditional accolades.
The rap legend continues to expand his footprint in the industry, having teased a new collaboration with Idris Elba. This project, still under wraps, promises to “change the game,” hinting at big things ahead. Their partnership could mark a significant shift, given both their impressive track records.
Moreover, 50 Cent has been busy growing his G-Unit Film and TV production empire. Recently, he secured a large studio in Shreveport, Louisiana, and partnered with Lionsgate to launch his own TV channel, ’50 Cent Action.’ This channel not only provides a platform for his ‘Power’ series but also showcases films and shows from Lionsgate’s extensive library. Over a dozen movies featuring 50 Cent, including all ‘The Expendables’ films, will be part of the channel’s lineup.
50 Cent’s approach underscores a broader vision of success, valuing audience reach over conventional accolades. With his upcoming projects and strong industry presence, his focus remains on innovation and expansion, signaling an exciting future for his brand.
