It’s been a great month for 50 Cent. The rapper and business mogul has built an impressive empire that’s brought him close to billionaire status. However, he seems pretty relaxed about the whole thing.
50 Cent has not only had a successful music career but has also conquered the entertainment world with several hit series. Earlier this year, he launched the second-largest Black-owned production studio in Shreveport, which is another feather in his cap. His growing wealth is becoming hard to ignore.
Despite the staggering figure, 50 Cent tells US Weekly that billionaire status isn’t a goal he’s racing to achieve. ‘I’m not in a hurry to reach billionaire status,’ he explained. ‘I’ve reached a point where I don’t want anything I don’t have. What’s the rush? I’ve bought every car I wanted, multiple times over.’
Interestingly, he mentions that being extremely wealthy comes with its own set of challenges. ‘When people publicly say you’re a billionaire, they come for what you have,’ he said. ‘The IRS might suddenly decide they want 58 percent of your money. The ambulance chasers, the attorneys — it’s an army of ’em after you.’
Though he’s cautious, 50 Cent decided to celebrate his accomplishments on Instagram, sharing an article about nearing billionaire status. However, he humorously added that this doesn’t mean he’s going to stop hunting for discounts. ‘I don’t want this to make you think I don’t need a discount, because I want a discount. LOL,” he said.
Meanwhile, on other fronts, Young Buck is working on repaying his $250K debt to 50 Cent, and a $1 billion lawsuit against him from a former drug kingpin was recently dismissed. Even a $40 million wiretapping lawsuit was tossed out. It’s safe to say, things are looking pretty good for 50 Cent right now.
50 Cent may be approaching billionaire status, but he’s in no rush to get there. With his humor intact and a clear view of the challenges wealth brings, he’s celebrating his accomplishments on his own terms.
