50 Cent recently couldn’t resist poking fun at Beyoncé after stumbling upon an AI-generated country version of his iconic hit “In Da Club.”
Country music has seen a commercial revival lately with artists like Zach Bryan, Morgan Wallen, and Luke Combs dominating the airwaves. Earlier this year, Beyoncé hopped on this bandwagon with her ‘Cowboy Carter’ album, which not only debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 but also paved the way for more Black artists in the country genre.
Seeing the trend, 50 Cent took to Instagram on Sunday, June 9, to share a humorous AI-generated take on his ‘Get Rich or Die Tryin’’ anthem. The reimagined version presents him as ‘Conway Fitty,’ complete with a suit and classic country hairstyle. In the caption, 50 Cent joked about his own foray into country music, saying, ‘My country album on the way Beyoncé ain’t got shit on me. LOL.’
This isn’t the first time 50 Cent has shown appreciation for country music. In December, he shared a photo with Zach Bryan, calling him the best new artist in country music after Bryan attended one of his shows in Melbourne. ‘My boy @zachlanebryan stopped by to see me last night,’ 50 Cent wrote on Instagram. ‘I told him, he the best new everything in country music.’
However, 50’s playful jab at Beyoncé brings up memories of their less-than-friendly interactions in the past. During a 2022 interview with The Breakfast Club, 50 Cent recounted a tense moment with Beyoncé in Las Vegas. He claimed that Beyoncé once confronted him during his ongoing feud with her husband, JAY-Z. ‘She was on, like, a window sill. We was in Vegas,’ he remembered. ‘She jumped out, she was like [pulls confrontational face]. And I’m like,
Wait, what is you doing? That’s me and JAY-Z’s stuff, this ain’t got nothing to do with you, girl.
She jumped off the ledge. I was like, ‘Oh, shit!’ I didn’t really know what to do. It was one of those situations where you were like, ‘Woah!’ If you say this to Jay, he’ll look at you and go, ‘Nah, that happened.’ He continued, ‘She came like she was ready! Like something was gonna happen! And I’m like, ‘Woah, woah, woah.’ She throwing me off now ’cause I don’t know exactly how to respond to this. You are still Beyoncé. She brought all of the sexy over with that energy jumping off. I look at Jay and he go [laughs]. Nah, he’ll tell you … I said, ‘Yo, alright. Whatever.’ ‘Cause really I’m just saying what’s up. But she’s feeling my energy come over because we do say things about each other—it’s a competitive nature, that’s it!’
These playful exchanges and competitive jabs seem to be part of a bigger story between 50 Cent and Beyoncé, blending humor and past confrontations. While 50 Cent continues to explore new avenues in music, one thing remains certain: his commentary is always entertaining.
