50 Cent has raised eyebrows over Nicki Minaj’s spot on the list of highest grossing Hip Hop tours, sparking a debate.
Drake’s It’s All a Blur Tour dominated the charts with an impressive $320 million, leading to a list published by Complex on Hip Hop tours’ earnings.
Following Drake, Travis Scott and Kendrick Lamar secured the second and third spots, grossing $154 million and $110 million respectively.
Controversy arose as Nicki Minaj and 50 Cent both reported earnings of $108 million from their global tours. However, 50 Cent believed Nicki deserved the third position over Kendrick.
“I don’t know where they got these numbers from,” 50 Cent remarked on Instagram, defending his friend Nicki’s hard work as she balanced her tour with motherhood.
Supporting 50’s claims, Nicki herself took to X, demanding to see the numbers that ranked her fourth: “Show me the data.”
Touring Data’s figures revealed Nicki’s Pink Friday 2 World Tour earned $108.8 million from 786,840 tickets over 70 shows, making her the first female rapper to cross $100 million on a single tour.
Meanwhile, 50 Cent’s Final Lap Tour was slightly behind with $108.4 million from 96 dates.
Despite the rankings, 50 Cent is in a celebratory mood, announcing his first Las Vegas residency, ensuring fans will have more to look forward to with six shows planned.
The residency, titled ‘In Da Club,’ promises a big production and surprises, showing 50 Cent’s continual impact on the hip-hop scene.
The debate over tour rankings highlights the competitive nature of the music industry, especially among top hip-hop artists. As 50 Cent and Nicki Minaj contest the figures, their successes underscore the genre’s thriving global appeal and the star power each artist commands.
