Ice Cube, the legendary rapper and actor, recently shared his frustrations about a script for a new “Friday” movie being shut down by Hollywood executives.

Ice Cube is revered not just in the music world but across entertainment. Known for his iconic role in the 1995 comedy “Friday,” where he starred alongside Chris Tucker, Cube has kept fans hoping for more installments of the beloved series. Despite fan enthusiasm, higher-ups in Hollywood seem to have put a stop to his script for a new sequel.

During an appearance on Cam Newton’s Funky Friday podcast, Cube revealed that his plans for a new “Friday” movie had been stalled. “Like, I know what it needs to be, and they don’t,” he expressed with clear frustration. The issue, according to Cube, stems from a disagreement with studio executives regarding the script’s direction.

Cube had hoped to bring Chris Tucker back for the new movie but faced pushback on the script’s content. As he described it, “They was like, ‘Ah, jail’s not funny. It’s too much time in jail. How can you make jail funny?'” Cube’s argument was simple: other successful shows and movies have found humor in similar settings, citing examples like “Orange Is The New Black” and “Let’s Go To Prison.”

Cube’s attempts to take the project to another studio hit a roadblock due to previously agreed terms with New Line, the original film’s production company. “We did the movie through New Line, and they attached to all the sequels,” Cube explained. “Has to come out through New Line.” This has left the West Coast star unable to move forward without their collaboration, despite looking for alternatives.

Meanwhile, Ice Cube isn’t just waiting around. He’s launched his new album “Man Down,” reminding everyone of his potent presence in the music industry. While fans eagerly await any movement on the “Friday” front, Cube continues to push boundaries and stay productive.

Ice Cube’s candid revelations have shed light on the often complex and frustrating world of filmmaking. Despite obstacles, his passion for bringing a new “Friday” film to life is evident. Fans can only hope that Hollywood reconsiders and gives this cherished franchise a fresh chapter.
