Ne-Yo has decided to live his life by his own rules, openly sharing that monogamy isn’t for him. Recently on the Lemon Drop show, the R&B star revealed how accepting his true feelings around relationships has been liberating.

Ne-Yo described how the societal pressure to stay in monogamous relationships had previously led him astray. ‘I realized that I had not been living my truth for a very, very long time,’ he confessed. ‘I’m living it now, and you can tell: my skin is glowing. I’m in a great space — mentally, emotionally and everything else.’

Despite the accepted norm of marrying one person for life, Ne-Yo emphasized, ‘Everything is not for everybody. It is some of the truest shit that anyone has ever said.’ He respects those who thrive in traditional marriages but knows that lifestyle doesn’t fit him. ‘Monogamy’s for you? It’s not for me,’ he stated frankly.

After finalizing his divorce from Crystal Renay, Ne-Yo reflects on how much time he lost by not being true to himself. ‘I spent so much time lying and trying to be somebody that I wasn’t for the sake of somebody else.’

The artist now embraces his reality, seeking connections with those who accept him as he is. ‘I don’t have to lie anymore and I’ll be damned if I ever go back to that person that needed to lie for the appeasement of somebody else,’ he declared.

In the wake of his divorce, Ne-Yo was candid about the challenges faced. His ex-wife had accused him of infidelity and deceit, expressing her heartbreak on social media. Her statement shared the pain of ‘unknowingly sharing my life and husband with numerous women.’

Despite the turbulence, Ne-Yo remains sure of his path. He’s been seen enjoying his life and is open about dating multiple women, suggesting that he’s found what truly makes him happy. In a summer interview, he casually remarked about having no limits on potential relationships, saying, ‘[There’s] no specific cap. It just depends on who I vibe with and who vibes with me. As many as you can afford.’

Ne-Yo is living life on his own terms, choosing honesty over societal expectations. This openness has brought him peace and happiness, allowing him to move forward with clarity. The singer’s journey serves as a reminder that living authentically can be the biggest weight off one’s shoulders.
