Snoop Dogg has set his sights on a golden opportunity: designing the medals for the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles.
The rap icon launched his new jewelry line, Lovechild, in collaboration with Metal Alchemist and gamma., with the ambitious aim of crafting Olympic medals. At the launch event in Hollywood, Snoop expressed his desire to work with the International Olympic Committee, having been a prominent figure at the Paris Olympics.
Snoop’s partner in this venture, Metal Alchemist, has already made waves at the Olympics. A striking chain worn by Snoop during a pre-Olympics event in Paris showcased a medallion made from original copper from the Statue of Liberty. This unique piece was the brainchild of Metal Alchemist founder Carolyn Rafaelian.
Rafaelian, speaking about the medallion’s origins, shared that the copper comes from a restoration of the Statue of Liberty in 1986. The materials had been preserved for over 30 years, and she felt a deep sense of purpose when creating the piece for Snoop.
The Lovechild jewelry line holds a special place in Snoop Dogg’s heart. He envisions it as a symbol of love and connection, not only to his family but to people worldwide. Snoop describes the collection as a reflection of his relationships and aspirations, with pieces representing family royalty and unity.
Snoop is firm in his belief that love should be the foremost thought people associate with him. He wants Lovechild to convey this sentiment, with plans to release designs that celebrate the bonds of family through symbolic pieces representing kings, queens, princes, and princesses.
While the fate of Lovechild in the Olympic medal race is uncertain, Snoop Dogg’s passion for art and ambition to connect through love remains unwavering.
