Lil Uzi Vert’s collaboration with Big Time Rush hit a snag when Carlos PenaVega opted out due to personal values.
Lil Uzi Vert recently released a song titled “The Rush” as part of his new album, Eternal Atake 2. The song featured almost the entire boy band Big Time Rush, except for one member—Carlos PenaVega.
Carlos’s absence puzzled fans until his wife, Alexa PenaVega, took to social media to clarify the situation. She emphasized their commitment to creating content that aligns with their family-centric values, suggesting that Uzi’s track didn’t meet these criteria.
Alexa explained, “We work super hard to protect our values and the things we believe in, especially when it comes to creating content that is mostly family-friendly or what one would consider ‘safe.'” This statement shed light on Carlos’s decision to decline participation in the collaboration.
She further addressed the misrepresentation of the track, stating, “Unfortunately, it was not credited properly and is currently being represented as a BTR feature. Not a Kendall, Logan, and James feature.” This may have added fuel to the fire, considering the expectations around the feature.
While Carlos decided to step back, Uzi appreciated the rest of Big Time Rush’s participation in the project. He shared in a Rolling Stone interview how he was amazed when the band agreed to collaborate, noting he didn’t even think they knew who he was before this.
Uzi crafted “The Rush” as a sort of tribute to the band, hoping for their harmonious voices to grace the beginning of the track. Despite Carlos’s absence, Uzi remained enthusiastic about the collaboration and spoke positively about the experience.
Meanwhile, Uzi’s partner, JT, was quick to express her pride in the album. She posted on Instagram celebrating its release, referring to it as “Eternal Atake 2” or “EA2”. Her post was filled with admiration for Uzi’s work and highlighted her favorite tracks.
Despite the hiccup with one of the Big Time Rush members, “The Rush” managed to capture attention and maintained its momentum as part of Uzi’s album’s success.
Even if not all members of Big Time Rush appeared, Lil Uzi Vert remains thrilled with the collaboration outcome. Values sometimes play a role in creative decisions, but the spirit of cooperation continues.
