While attending the Jazz Cafe Festival in London, Rapsody opened up about her bond with the Compton rapper. She reminisced about being at his memorable Juneteenth Pop Out show and how they reconnected afterward.
“I spoke to him maybe a week after the concert and a week before,” she mentioned. Despite not having chatted with Lamar for over a year, his spontaneous text about her album came as a delightful surprise.

Please Don’t Cry, released in May, features prominent artists like Lil Wayne and Erykah Badu across 22 tracks. It’s a follow-up to her 2019 album Eve, which honored her inspirations such as Lauryn Hill and Nina Simone.
