In a rare move, Kendrick Lamar hit Instagram to announce his pick for the hardest rapper currently: the rising star Doechii.

Kendrick Lamar, known for his lyrical prowess and successful career, didn’t choose to highlight a well-known figure like Drake, but instead spotlighted Doechii. On October 17, he shared the artwork from Doechii’s mixtape ‘Alligator Bites Never Heal’ on his Instagram Stories, dubbing her “the hardest out 🐊” in the industry.

Doechii, clearly thrilled by Kendrick’s shoutout, responded with gratitude on Instagram, saying, “Thank you Dot. You the greatest.” She shared her appreciation further with the sentiment of “getting your flowers while you can still smell them.”

The connection between Kendrick and Doechii runs deeper as she recently appeared in a cash app commercial created by Kendrick’s company, showing ongoing collaborations.

Doechii herself has expressed interest in working with Kendrick despite admitting she’s not entirely ready yet. She shared on The Joe Budden Podcast her aspirations for a feature with Kendrick, noting that she doesn’t feel entitled to it but would love to see it happen once she feels prepared.

This year has been significant for Doechii, earning accolades from both Kendrick and TDE label mate ScHoolboy Q. Her mixtape ‘Alligator Bites Never Heal’ released in August, drew comparisons to Kendrick’s debut mixtape ‘Section.80.’ TDE founder Anthony “Top Dawg” Tiffith expressed similar sentiments, regarding Doechii as one of the promising artists of the time.

Kendrick Lamar’s endorsement of Doechii highlights her as a formidable talent in hip hop, building anticipation for her future projects.
