Dame Dash recently faced a life-or-death decision when Hurricane Milton threatened Florida.
The entrepreneur admitted that he hesitated to evacuate his family because he didn’t want to seem “soft.”
Dame took to Instagram Live to share how he nearly stayed put as the category three hurricane barreled down. His choice was influenced by local attitudes, as neighbors appeared unfazed by the storm.
“We were like, ‘Alright, we’re gonna try to grind it out and stay,'” Dame recalled. The pressure of social perception weighed heavily on him as he observed his community’s nonchalant departure.
However, as the storm’s severity became undeniable, Dame and his family chose safety. They relocated to a secure location on a luxury bus, with his son Dusko and their four dogs.
“Who wants to be uncomfortable?” he pondered, acknowledging the impracticality of staying with a baby and pets during such chaos. “I started stressing a little,” he admitted, sharing how concern from his artist Nicolette and others pushed him to act.
Dame emphasized the importance of having a “hurricane house,” a safe retreat for natural disasters. “We got a place to go,” he stated, underscoring the foresight needed for those living in such climates.
Yet, amidst the storm, Dame’s troubles don’t end. A legal battle looms as he’s forced to auction off his stake in Roc-A-Fella Inc. to settle debts, including a hefty sum to filmmaker Josh Webber and unpaid taxes.
The situation further strained when Jay-Z allegedly tried to devalue Dame’s shares, claiming the copyright to “Reasonable Doubt” would revert back to him in 2031. Despite the turmoil, a judge sided with Jay-Z, adding another layer of complication.
