Hurricane Chris recently went on an Instagram rant, accusing Super Bowl LIX organizers of disrespecting New Orleans by choosing Kendrick Lamar for the halftime show instead of Lil Wayne. Slim Jxmmi couldn’t resist mocking Chris’s outburst.
In an Instagram video posted on Monday, Hurricane Chris vented his frustrations about next year’s Super Bowl halftime show. He felt the organizers slighted New Orleans by selecting Kendrick Lamar over local legend Lil Wayne, who had openly expressed his desire for the spot.
Chris didn’t hold back and drew comparisons to his previous complaints about 50 Cent’s festival in Shreveport. He accused outsiders of exploiting Southern culture for their gain. ‘When you come to the South, y’all gotta show more respect than this,’ he stated. ‘We got our own culture here. N-ggas coming down here laughing, playing games, thinking they just gonna use their money and take over everything.’
Slim Jxmmi, not one to stay silent, commented on Chris’s video with a laughing emoji, writing, ‘BRUH! AIN’T NO WAY YOU STILL REACHING!’. Chris responded in kind, threatening, ‘@slimjxmmi mind yo business unless you wanna see these hands bruh on god what’s poppin.’ Slim Jxmmi, a boxing enthusiast, accepted the challenge on his Instagram Stories, saying, ‘I’ll slap the ‘A Bay Bay’ out this n-gga.’
Meanwhile, Nicki Minaj also voiced her discontent on social media. She accused JAY-Z, who helps organize the halftime show, of denying Lil Wayne the opportunity due to personal issues. ‘Denying a young black man what he rightfully put into this game for no other reason but your ego,’ she wrote, pouring gasoline on the already blazing fire.
Adding to the chorus, Birdman chimed in on Twitter, expressing his disdain for the situation and standing in solidarity with Minaj and Lil Wayne. His tweet, though brief, made his feelings clear: ‘These n-ggaz Pussi @NICKIMINAJ @Drake @LilTunechi YMCMB. I’m make these n-ggaz respek us on Gladys. Hatin shit 4real.’
While the feud raged on, JAY-Z remained silent. However, he did issue a statement when announcing Kendrick Lamar’s performance, calling him ‘a once-in-a-generation artist’ whose influence transcends music and impacts culture globally. This endorsement, however, did little to quell the discontent from Lil Wayne’s supporters.
Despite the heated exchanges and public outcry, the decision stands, and Kendrick Lamar is set to perform at Super Bowl LIX. Whether this feud will escalate further remains to be seen, but the controversy has certainly ignited strong opinions in the hip-hop community.
