Breaking news from Tampa: a concert featuring Gucci Mane, Plies, Yung Miami, and Rob49 has been abruptly canceled. The reason? Yungeen Ace’s last-minute addition to the lineup.
The event, originally set for Friday, September 20, was expected to be a massive hit. However, security concerns arose when Yungeen Ace was announced as a performer. According to an email shared by No Jumper on Instagram, the venue was worried about Ace’s alleged gang ties.
The email stated, “You may know that Julio Foolio was murdered right up the street from us and we’ve been made aware that Ace is rumored to have gang ties to the group that was involved with the shooting (Gangs ATK and KTA).” Given the recent nature of these events, the venue decided to prioritize safety.
Interestingly, Ace has been making headlines for various reasons recently. In a new track remixing Cash Cobain’s hit song, “Problem,” Ace seemed to diss both Foolio and his mother with lyrics that are quite controversial. He rapped, “They mad at me that n***a died that’s not my [problem], I’m getting rich off the dead like that’s my [problem].”
Despite the harsh lyrics, Ace also showed a softer side. During an Instagram Live session in July, he downplayed any animosity and shared his condolences for Foolio’s death. This duality makes Ace a complex and captivating figure in the music scene.
Given the heightened tensions and recent events, the Tampa police and venue officials felt it would be safest to cancel the concert. This decision, while disappointing to fans, reflects the broader concerns of community safety.
While fans are disappointed, the cancellation underscores the ongoing complexities surrounding some artists. Safety, it seems, had to come first this time.
