Big Sean’s much-anticipated album, ‘Better Me Than You,’ is finally here, featuring a mix of hip-hop heavyweights like Gunna, Cash Cobain, and Kodak Black. But what really got fans buzzing is a heartfelt cameo from none other than Hollywood superstar, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.

The album, Sean’s sixth studio project, had a rocky rollout marred by leaks and delays. However, it clocks in at over an hour with 21 solid tracks that make it worth the wait. Among the star-studded features, DJ Premier, Bryson Tiller, and Teyana Taylor lend their talents to elevate the album further.

One track, in particular, ‘Break the Cycle,’ has captured everyone’s attention. While Johnson doesn’t rap, he delivers a touching message to Sean about fatherhood. ‘Yo, what’s up my brother? Great to hear from you. So, a few things. Most importantly, that sounds amazing, your baby boy is nine months old, thriving, I love hearing that,’ Johnson says. He continues to joke, ‘What’s cool is your baby boy at nine months is almost already bigger than Kevin Hart.’

Meanwhile, the album features a variety of other artists, including Proof from D12’s son NASAAN on “Certified,” as well as singers Syd and Ellie Goulding. The range of collaborations helps ensure there’s something for everyone, reflecting Sean’s versatility as an artist.

Leading up to the album’s release, Big Sean opened up about his personal struggles. ‘I am a chronic overthinker. I’m a chronic, constant worker. And I’ve been having a hard time lately, straight up. It’s not been easy… But it’s worth it,’ he shared on Instagram Live. This candidness offers a deeper layer to the listening experience, making the album not just a collection of songs but a piece of Sean’s life journey.

Sean also credits his mother for helping him regain his confidence. ‘When me and Jhené were giving our son a bath last night, my mom called me and she was just giving me them words,’ he said. ‘I can keep working and make it exactly how I want it and I’ll be pushing it back forever. Or I can believe in the fire-ass work that I got right now and that’s what I’ma do.’

With a mix of heartfelt moments, star-studded collaborations, and Sean’s vulnerable honesty, ‘Better Me Than You’ is more than just an album; it’s a testament to his growth as an artist and an individual. Don’t miss out on this musical journey.
