Drake recently took to Instagram to share his signature pouty mirror selfies, but this time, he added a twist. He hilariously blamed Joe Budden for his infamous pose.
On Wednesday, August 28, Drake posted a selfie with his trademark pout and captioned it, “I’m not aware of my picture or mirror face it’s a curse from birth and I’m influenced by what I see.”
Alongside the selfie, Drake included pictures of YouTube star Duke Dennis and a young Joe Budden, hinting that they influenced his widely-mocked selfie pose.
Dennis, popular for his “hood vlogs” and NBA 2K content, took the joke in stride, commenting: “Lmaooo [crying face emojis].” Drake responded, “@dukedennis I accept my contributions to the mirror face members…we are akin to one another.”
Other celebrities joined in the fun, including Ice Spice and Soulja Boy. Lil Yachty even chimed in, teasing, “u forgot to add ken carson in this line up.”
Drake and Budden’s relationship has always been a rollercoaster. They’ve exchanged jabs over the years, with Budden recently criticizing Drake and praising Kendrick Lamar during his podcast.
On his podcast, Budden said, “I think [Kendrick] won this off skill. He was much better than Drake the whole way.” He added that Drake wasn’t prepared for all the variables in their feud.
Budden also revealed some inside scoop, sharing that he had been in touch with Drake throughout their beef, but Drake went silent after their battle concluded. “I’ve been talking to this n-gga throughout the whole beef. That n-gga ain’t speak to me since that battle ended.”
Despite their ups and downs, Budden has often praised Drake’s music. Reflecting on Drake’s career, Budden said, “I don’t care what Drake does; for me, Drake’s legacy is already kinda cemented.”
Even though Budden believes Drake’s music might not be at its peak, he still holds classics like “Views” and “Take Care” in high regard.
