50 Cent, Hip Hop mogul and business titan, dropped some serious knowledge at Invest Fest in Atlanta this weekend, revealing a key to his lasting success.
‘One of the unwritten laws of business is to not appear to need anything,’ he declared. According to him, people are more inclined to help when they think you don’t need it. Essentially, they’re banking on a favor in return at some point.
He used his own experience to illustrate the point. When television networks were on strike, 50 Cent didn’t panic. Instead, he took his show on the road. ‘That last tour, I did 103 shows. It’s the third highest-grossing Hip Hop tour ever,’ he mentioned proudly. His adaptability and strategic thinking were met with applause from the audience.
In a recent chat with Us Weekly, he opened up about his relationship with money. When asked if he’s close to becoming Hip Hop’s next billionaire, he was candid: ‘I don’t quantify the money like that — I quantify the level of successes and wins I’ve achieved. I have far exceeded anyone’s expectations of me.’
Surprisingly, he’s not in a rush to join the billionaire club. ‘I’ve bought every car I wanted, multiple times over. What’s the rush?’ he pondered. According to him, being a billionaire brings its own set of problems. ‘When people publicly say you’re a billionaire, they come for what you have. The IRS might suddenly decide they want 58 percent of your money. The ambulance chasers, the attorneys — it’s an army of ’em after you.’
The rapper also mused about legacy. For him, true success comes from giving back and impacting others’ lives. ‘People remember those who helped others more than those who just accumulated wealth. They’ll ask, ‘How did he benefit others? How significant was his success if it didn’t affect other people’s lives?”
50 Cent’s openness about his business principles and his views on wealth adds another layer to his already fascinating persona. His words might just be the blueprint for anyone looking to make it big.
