Post Malone, primarily known now for his pop and country music, has faced lingering accusations of being a ‘culture vulture’ from his early days in Hip Hop.

In a recent CBS Sunday Morning interview, Post Malone opened up about how early-career criticism deeply affected him, leading to self-destructive behavior. He admitted, ‘It sucked. I was a kid… [I dealt with it by] drink[ing] a lot. I absolutely [took it personal.] It’s hard not to.’

However, Posty emphasized that he doesn’t make music for his critics but for himself and his fans. ‘You don’t make music for the people who hate you. It’s for the people who love you, and for yourself,’ he concluded.

Last year, concerns arose over Post Malone’s noticeable weight loss, sparking rumors of drug use. After a performance in Antwerp, Belgium, he addressed these worries on Instagram, assuring fans that he wasn’t on drugs. ‘I’m having a lot of fun performing, and have never felt healthier. I guess dad life kicked in and I decided to kick soda, and start eating better,’ he explained.

Posty also mentioned his plans to quit beer and cigarettes eventually. He shared his excitement about working on new music, saying, ‘Next up is smokes and brews, but I like to consider myself a patient man… I’ve spent a bit in the studio lately working on new music, and am so excited to share it with you.’

To his fans, he offered some encouragement: ‘If you’re having a hard time or need some love, I can say that you’re loved more than you know, and keep crushing it.’

Post Malone’s journey through early-career criticism and personal challenges highlights his resilience and dedication to his craft. Despite the backlash, he continues to create music for those who appreciate it and remains committed to his personal growth.
