Ice Spice is thrilled with the first-week sales of her debut album ‘Y2K!’ despite it not making the top 10 on the Billboard 200. On August 5, Chart Data revealed that the Bronx native’s album debuted at No. 18 with 28,000 album-equivalent units sold.

Sharing the news on social media, Ice highlighted that these numbers almost doubled her first-week sales for her debut EP ‘Like..?’. She expressed, ‘Like..? did 15k so thank u to everyone who supported me then & thank u to all the new supporters ❤️ Y2K! WORLD TOUR been so fun that these numbers are cool and all but bitch u should of seen that Boston CROWD last night 😍🔥 NYC TOMORROW 🍿🎥.’

In another update, Ice Spice opened up about her relationship with Nicki Minaj during a Rolling Stone interview. She described their relationship as not the closest but ‘definitely good,’ adding, ‘We’re mutuals. We had smash records together. I love us together. I think the world does too.’

Addressing leaked text messages where she expressed frustration over the business details of their ‘Barbie World’ collaboration, Ice clarified, ‘I don’t really think she cares about [stuff] like that coming from a random girl. But what I said in those texts was just in a moment of frustration around contract negotiations.’ Despite the tension, she maintained, ‘[Nicki] is still somebody I respect as an artist, and I’m always going to admire everything she’s done for me and the culture.’

These texts were initially leaked by aspiring singer and rapper Baby Storme, who posted screenshots of a conversation allegedly between herself and Ice Spice. The messages included Ice referring to Minaj as ‘like her mom, ungrateful and delusional.’ Ice also claimed the ‘Barbie’ soundtrack project was brought to her initially, and she approached Minaj for collaboration because ‘that’s her brand.’

Further, Ice allegedly stated that Minaj was ‘jealous’ of her ‘because I own my own masters.’ This added more fuel to the fire regarding their complicated relationship, but Ice has remained respectful and appreciative of Minaj’s influence in her career.

Ice Spice’s debut album ‘Y2K!’ may not have topped the charts, but the buzz around it and her candid revelations show her rising influence in the hip-hop world. Despite the ups and downs, she continues to capture attention both on and off the stage.
