Travis Scott is set to feature on Afrobeats sensation Asake’s new album, which drops on August 9.
This year, the Houston rapper Travis Scott has been on fire, making waves with his features and his own music. Asake, a popular Afrobeats artist from Nigeria, has snagged Scott for his upcoming release, ‘Lungu Boy.’ The album is loaded with collaborations, featuring big names like Central Cee and Stormzy, and of course, Scott.
Travis Scott has been unstoppable this year, both as a headliner and as a featured artist. His Circus Maximus Tour, which kicked off in October 2023, has been a massive success, with shows selling out everywhere. The tour could gross up to $140 million and is on track to become one of the highest-grossing tours for a rapper ever.
One of the standout moments in Scott’s recent career was his track ‘FE!N’ from the ‘Utopia’ album, which features Playboi Carti. It’s been the biggest hit from the album and his most popular song since ‘The Scotts’ with Kid Cudi back in 2020. WWE even picked ‘FE!N’ for WrestleMania 41 promotions, hyping it as a potential theme song.
Scott’s live DJ, Chase B, remixed ‘FE!N’ in April, adding more spice to its already sizzling popularity.
On the collaboration front, Scott’s been everywhere. He recently featured on DJ Mustard’s track ‘Parking Lot’ from the album ‘Faith Of A Mustard Seed.’ He also lent his voice to Ice Spice’s debut album, ‘Y2K!’, on the track ‘Oh Sh…’. And who could forget his April appearance on Nicki Minaj’s remix of ‘FTCU,’ alongside Sexyy Red and Chris Brown?
Beyond music, Scott’s partnership with Nike continues to thrive. He’s been rolling out new sneakers almost as frequently as he’s dropping verses. A new pair of Scott-designed Air Jordan 1s is set to release in September, and there are rumors he might get a second signature sneaker in 2025.
Scott’s feature on Asake’s album could introduce the Nigerian artist to an even broader audience. Already a star in his home country, Asake’s international profile is about to get a major boost. All eyes will be on them when ‘Lungu Boy’ officially drops on August 9.
With Asake and Travis Scott teaming up, ‘Lungu Boy’ is shaping up to be one of the can’t-miss albums of the year. Fans should mark their calendars for August 9.
