In a candid and humorous revelation, André 3000, the legend from OutKast, admitted that he doesn’t quite have a handle on his new musical passion: the flute.

André 3000 stopped by LeBron James and Maverick Carter’s talk show, ‘The Shop,’ and opened up about his unexpected switch from rap to jazz flute. LeBron shared a memorable moment from one of André’s jazz shows, where the rapper-turned-flutist entertained the crowd with his banter and musical skills.

André confessed, ‘I don’t want people to think that I’m trying to be a jazz musician. I kind of look at myself as a sonic displayist. I don’t know what notes I’m playing, to be completely honest. I’m not trying to pretend like I know what I’m doing, in a way. I actually don’t know what I’m doing and that’s part of the art.’

This open and honest admission was met with laughter and understanding. During the same episode, André bonded with fellow guest, Sexyy Red, over the doubters and critics they’ve both faced in their careers. Sexyy Red noted, ‘They still don’t believe in me, so I just be like, ‘I’ma show you who I am.’’

Their conversation resonated with both artists. André added, ‘Fuel. Use it for fuel. Hater fuel, man, it’s the best sh-t. It’s free energy.’ Sexyy Red echoed this sentiment, saying, ‘I like it when they talk about me, I ain’t gonna lie,’ to which André responded, ‘That sh-t free energy, that make me go in. I love when somebody doubts you.’

After André’s revelation on the show, fans and social media users chimed in with their thoughts. One fan humorously posted, ‘ANDRE 3000 YOU BETTER STICK TO THAT LIL FLUTE BOY YOU COULD NEVER PUT OUT A 14 TRACK RAP ALBUM WITH A HIDDEN BIG-BOI FEATURE ON THE LAST TRACK AND COLLABS WITH FRANK OCEAN, JAY Z AND KENDRICK LAMAR!!!!!!!!!!’

André 3000’s candid comments and new musical journey show that even legends can reinvent themselves and embrace new challenges, all while keeping a sense of humor and humility.
