Sexyy Red is setting the record straight. Rumors flew around this week that the “Get It Sexyy” rapper would perform at Donald Trump’s rally in Atlanta this Saturday. However, Sexyy quickly denied any involvement.
She responded to the chatter by retweeting the rumor and firmly stating, “Dey fakin dats cap.”
Just last month, Sexyy Red faced backlash when she wore a giant MAGA hat during her set at the 2024 Roots Picnic. The hat read “Make America Sexyy Again,” but many fans saw it as an endorsement of Trump.
To clear things up, Sexyy Red tweeted, “It’s Sexyy Red 4 President 🇺🇸 I’m my own candidate I’m not endorsing anybody period 💋.”
Previously, the rapper talked about her views on Trump during an interview on comedian Theo Von’s podcast. She mentioned that people in the hood started to like Trump because he freed Black people from prison and gave out stimulus checks during the pandemic.
“I like Trump,” she said. “Yeah, they support him in the hood. At first, I don’t think people was fucking with him. They thought he was racist, saying little shit against women.
“But once he started getting Black people out of jail and giving people that free money. Aww baby, we love Trump. We need him back in office. We need him back because, baby, them checks. Them stimulus checks. Trump, we miss you.”
She added: “I love Trump. He funny to me. I used to be watching him talking to people. He used to be calling people fat. He just bold. He funny. We need people like him.”
However, not everyone on social media agreed with her. Hot 97 and Apple Music’s Ebro Darden wrote, “Clearly some people don’t know how the stimulus checks worked, who’s money it actually was/is and how it go distributed… People believe anything.”
Another user expressed disappointment, saying, “Disappointed to see this, she can’t be my fave new rapper no more. But she is right, them stimulus checks was kinda all it took for a lot of ppl to hop on the Trump train smh.”
Sexyy Red’s clarification about not performing at Trump’s rally has stirred conversations once again. While some fans appreciate her straightforwardness, others remain skeptical of her previous comments about Trump. But one thing’s clear: Sexyy Red isn’t endorsing anyone but herself.
