In “Guilty Conscience 2” from his new album, Eminem shoots his alter ego and wakes up from a dream, while a snippet of “When I’m Gone” plays in the background. This detail has fans buzzing.
Listeners are also speculating that the track references another song, “My Darling,” from his album Relapse, which depicts Eminem battling Slim Shady for control over his mind.
In “Guilty Conscience 2,” Eminem raps, “What shot is this? First, second — it’s your third,” which fans believe calls back to both “When I’m Gone” and “My Darling.”
There’s an ongoing debate among fans about whether the Slim Shady persona is truly dead or the whole thing is just a dream.
