Jadakiss proved his loyalty when a video showed him giving cash to G. Dep, who was recently released from prison.
G. Dep, who once was on the same record label as Jadakiss, visited The LOX’s 30th anniversary tour in New Haven, CT. Backstage, Jadakiss pulled out a stack of money and handed it to G. Dep, who accepted it gratefully.
Social media users quickly praised Jadakiss for the gesture. One person commented, “Jada seems solid across the board. A rare breed.” Another added, “Only Real N-kkaz Understand Vibes Like This,” showing how much respect people have for what Jadakiss did.
G. Dep also shared the moment on his own social media, captioning it, “+ Praise the Creator!!! @jadakiss & #gdep ! That just happened!!” The moment was heavily discussed online, with many celebrating their bond.
G. Dep, whose real name is Trevell Coleman, was signed to a major record label in the 1990s. However, his career took a dark turn when he attempted a robbery in 1993, which led to the death of John Henkel. The crime remained unsolved until 2010, when G. Dep confessed.
He explained his decision to confess, saying, “In order to restore balance to my life and someone’s family, I wanted to turn myself in and see what happened.” He accepted his fate and was sentenced to 15 years to life in prison.
G. Dep was granted clemency and released in April. In his first interview after regaining freedom, he shared why he felt the need to come clean. “I did the right thing,” he stated, adding that he had no regrets about turning himself in, despite the cold case.
He revealed how the guilt and memories haunted him over the years. “It was an ongoing thing. It wasn’t one of those things where I said, ‘Okay, I’m going to just do it.’ I was thinking about it for a while,” he told XXL magazine.
Reflecting on his time in the precinct, he recalls being given a phone to call his daughter’s mother and coming to terms with the reality of his situation. He felt that until he faced his past, he couldn’t truly enjoy his life, friends, or even food.
G. Dep expressed relief after confessing, saying, “I felt like I was going to go through the same thing again — being happy, enjoying food and family — and I still didn’t handle what I thought I needed to.” The decision, albeit tough, allowed him to move forward emotionally.
Through their heartfelt reunion, Jadakiss showed the true essence of friendship, while G. Dep found peace by confronting his past. Their story is a powerful reminder of loyalty and redemption.
