It’s all heating up between rapper 50 Cent and R&B legend Keith Sweat. The two have been trading shots on social media over their upcoming public appearances.
For the past month, Keith Sweat has been advertised as one of the celebrities performing at 50’s Humor & Harmony Weekend in Shreveport, Louisiana from August 8-11. Specifically, Sweat was set to hit the stage on August 10.
However, a series of Instagram posts on July 26 have put Sweat’s appearance in jeopardy. It all started with a post from 50 Cent, who was riding in a car, chatting on the phone, and saying Sweat was ‘tripping.’ According to 50, Keith wanted to attend the event via Zoom instead of in person because 50 wouldn’t attend his own event in New York on August 3.
In his post, 50 taunted Sweat by saying the singer was getting ‘Diddy’s Key to the city’ at his August 3 event. Diddy had previously lost his Key to the City title after an incident involving Cassie.
‘Now if he don’t show up in Shreveport, we ain’t messing with him no more,’ 50 declared. The tension was real.
Keith Sweat didn’t stay silent. He fired back by posting a snippet of 50’s 1999 song ‘How to Rob,’ where 50 infamously joked about robbing various celebrities, including Sweat. ‘Hey Fif I gotta respond to you I’m definitely not coming to Shreveport now,’ Sweat wrote. ‘I just remember you said this about me back in the day.’
Sweat suggested he would be willing to squash the beef if 50 attended his New York ceremony. ‘I’ll see y’all in NYC Aug 3rd when I get the key to the city. You need to be there with me and everything is squashed,’ he added.
Not one to back down, 50 replied quickly. ‘Oh no, I was tripping when I wrote that, yo ass better be in Shreveport,’ he wrote. ‘We need that grown and sexy stuff! @keithsweat stop playing get your ass on da jet man.’
The back-and-forth continued without any signs of stopping, keeping fans glued to their screens.
Keith Sweat isn’t the only one facing 50’s online antics. Earlier this week, 50 took a jab at his longtime rival Irv Gotti over Ashanti’s pregnancy with Nelly. Sharing a screenshot of a post suggesting Gotti was upset with Ashanti and Nelly’s child news, 50 wrote, ‘LOL I HAD TO SHARE THIS LMAO.’
This rivalry shows no signs of cooling off anytime soon.
