Lupe Fiasco and Joe Budden have finally addressed the rumors about their supposed hatred for Kendrick Lamar and Drake, respectively.
While chatting on an X Spaces broadcast, Lupe admitted that he hadn’t followed all the drama between the rap titans. He only listened to Drizzy’s initial diss track, ‘Push Ups,’ and then tuned out most of the beef.
Budden playfully accused Lupe of having ‘sheer hate for one of them n-ggas,’ to which Lupe quipped back, ‘You hate Drake, I know.’ Budden clarified, ‘No, but it’s from love, and you hate Kendrick from love.’
Lupe firmly denied the claim, stating, ‘No, I love Dot,’ while Budden echoed, ‘Like I love Drake!’
Aiming to squash the rumors for good, Lupe said, ‘I do not have a problem with my brother in arms Kendrick Lamar.’ He emphasized that any past drama should be laid to rest and insisted he had no issues with Kendrick personally or professionally.
Back in April, Lupe shared a video from 2012 as proof of his respect for Kendrick. In the clip, Lupe invited a young Kendrick on stage in Chicago and declared him the ‘Next Big Thing.’ He sarcastically captioned the footage, ‘I been hating on KDot since 2012…day one hater. Big Hate…couldn’t wait till he came to Chicago so I could hate on him to his face!’
Joe Budden’s relationship with Drake has also been a rollercoaster. Their rift flared up again last fall when Budden criticized Drake’s ‘For All the Dogs’ album, accusing him of ‘rapping for the children.’ Drake hit back, calling Budden a ‘failed musician’ and the ‘poster child of frustration.’
Drake’s scathing Instagram comment turned heads as he mocked Budden for living paycheck to paycheck while boasting about his own 767 jet. It was another chapter in their ongoing saga of jabs and comebacks.
Both Lupe Fiasco and Joe Budden have publicly declared their love and respect for Kendrick Lamar and Drake. They hope to put an end to the false narratives and rumors.
