Dame Dash might be gearing up to sell his stake in JAY-Z’s debut album, even though a court ruling says he can’t.

  • The Roc-A-Fella co-founder appeared to make an offer on Instagram.
  • Dash posted an image of ‘Reasonable Doubt,’ hinting at a sale.
  • A 2022 court ruling prohibits selling his part without Roc-A-Fella’s consent.
  • Dash is allowed to sell his one-third stake in the company.

Dame Dash, the co-founder of Roc-A-Fella Records, might be looking for a buyer for his share in JAY-Z’s debut album. This comes despite a 2022 court ruling that bans him from selling any part of the album without permission from the label. On Instagram, Dash shared a photo of ‘Reasonable Doubt’ and a promo picture of himself, JAY-Z, and Kareem ‘Biggs’ Burke. He captioned it, ‘This shit is for sale 1/3 … only real inquiries only.’

The court ruling from 2022 states that Roc-A-Fella Records owns all rights to the album, including its copyright. Dash is not permitted to sell, alter, or dispose of any part of ‘Reasonable Doubt’ without Roc-A-Fella’s approval. However, he is allowed to sell his one-third ownership in the company itself.

The original lawsuit was filed when Dash announced plans to auction a stake in ‘Reasonable Doubt’ as a non-fungible token (NFT). He eventually struck a deal with the label, allowing him to sell his share in Roc-A-Fella but not the album.

It’s still unclear whether Dash’s Instagram post refers specifically to his stake in the album or his overall share in the company. His post has left fans and followers speculating about what he could mean.

In an interview clip shared by the Ugly Money Podcast, Dash spoke about his strained relationship with JAY-Z, using a vivid metaphor. He said, ‘If I hit a n-gga with a pack … and he runs off on me … I don’t care if it’s 20 years later, I’m never going to have too many complimentary things to say about that situation.’

Dame Dash’s recent Instagram post leaves room for interpretation, but one thing is clear: he’s got something to sell.
