Eminem has shown off his daredevil side by performing his own stunts in behind-the-scenes footage from his ‘Houdini’ music video.
In a clip posted to social media on Monday (June 11), the Detroit rap legend joked about doing dangerous stunts while telling fans not to ‘try this at home.’ The video shows Em jumping off a bed and landing on a mat, crashing onto a hard floor on his face, and attempting to grapple a wall. Tapping back into his on-screen fighting skills from ‘8 Mile,’ it also shows him pretending to be punched in the face.
‘I do my own stunts. #Houdini video shoot behind the scenes- don’t try this at home!!!’ Em captioned the footage.
Released a little over a week ago, ‘Houdini’ finds Eminem donning his Robin-inspired Rap Boy superhero outfit from his classic ‘Without Me’ video and doing battle with his Slim Shady alter ego, who has teleported to the present day from 2002. Directed by longtime collaborator Rich Lee, the whimsical clip boasts cameos from the likes of Dr. Dre, 50 Cent, Snoop Dogg, Royce Da 5’9”, The Alchemist, manager Paul Rosenberg and Interscope boss Jimmy Iovine.
The song itself debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 behind Post Malone’s ‘I Had Some Help’ collaboration with country star Morgan Wallen, which has occupied the top spot for four consecutive weeks. Had it topped the chart, ‘Houdini’ would have been Em’s sixth No. 1 single and first in over a decade following his 2013 collaboration with Rihanna, ‘The Monster.’
The song is the first offering from Eminem’s upcoming 12th album ‘The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce),’ which is set to be released later this year via Shady Records, Aftermath Entertainment and Interscope Records. Dr. Dre previously confirmed that he has production on the project.
Eminem continues to impress not just with his musical prowess but also with his willingness to dive into the action, quite literally. Fans eagerly await his upcoming album and whatever stunts he has planned next.
