André 3000 is hitting the road with his solo debut album New Blue Sun, and he made the announcement in a rather unique way – straight from his dentist’s office. In a video posted on June 7, fans watched as the OutKast legend got his teeth scanned, with bold white text overlaying the clip to reveal his New Blue Sun Live tour set for this summer.
Joining him on the tour are Carlos Niño, Nate Mercereau, Surya Botofasina, and Deantoni Parks, all featured on his record. However, the lineup could change as noted in his post. The 26-date journey kicked off with three consecutive performances at Pappy + Harriet’s in Joshua Tree, California, right on the announcement day.
The tour spans several continents, including North America, Australia, and Europe, wrapping up with three shows at the Henry Miller Memorial Library in Big Sur, California, in early September. While tickets for the summer tour are yet to be released, excitement is already bubbling among fans.
Last year, the announcement of André 3000’s instrumental LP generated anticipation, especially after Questlove’s enthusiastic social media posts. Questlove commented on Instagram about the ‘next level’ tracklist, describing it as a departure from the usual and a ‘RIGHT left turn.’ He likened the new record to ‘good medicine,’ a therapeutic escape from everyday stresses.
The tour dates are as follows: June 7–9 in Joshua Tree, CA at Pappy + Harriet’s, June 28 in Toronto, ON at Toronto Jazz Festival, June 30 in Montreal, QC at Montreal Jazz Festival, July 8–10 in Paris, FR at La Gaîté Lyrique, July 12 in Ghent, BEL at Gent Jazz, July 13 in Rotterdam, NL at North Sea Jazz, July 15 in Montreux, CH at Montreux Jazz Festival, July 20–21 in Sydney, AU at Volume Festival, August 2 in Newport, RI at Newport Jazz Festival, August 8 in Oslo, NO at Øya Festival, August 9 in Copenhagen, DK at Syd For Solen, August 10 in Gothenburg, SE at Way Out West, August 14 in Paredes De Coura, PT at Paredes De Coura Festival, August 17 in London, UK at All Points East, August 18 in Dorset, UK at We Out Here, August 30–September 1 in Napa, CA at Blue Note Jazz Festival, and September 3–5 in Big Sur, CA at Henry Miller Memorial Library.
