Proof’s son NASAAN has dropped a hint that he and Eminem might have some new music brewing. Growing up around Eminem, NASAAN shared memories of his relationship with Slim Shady and the evolving appreciation he has for the rap icon’s music.
In an interview with Off The Porch, NASAAN reminisced about his childhood experiences with the legendary rapper. ‘I feel like I’ve known the n-gga forever,’ NASAAN said. He admitted that while he wasn’t initially a huge fan, his appreciation for Eminem’s talent grew as he got older. Growing up in Atlanta influenced his early musical tastes, but by the age of 14 or 15, he began to realize just how skilled Eminem is as a rapper.
When asked about collaborating with the Detroit artist, NASAAN revealed, ‘We got some shit, we got some stuff.’ Although he refrained from sharing too many details, he confirmed that Eminem had sent him some material and hinted that more might be coming. ‘I don’t want to speak on it too much — I be getting in trouble when I talk about they stuff,’ he added.
Earlier this year, in April, NASAAN paid homage to his late father, Proof, by recreating a memorable moment from Proof’s career in the music video for ‘Goated,’ in collaboration with Royce Da 5’9.” The video includes a scene that references a well-known 1999 MTV freestyle session inside a car featuring Eminem and Proof. In this tribute, NASAAN proudly acknowledges his father by referencing ‘my daddy.’
‘Goated’ was released as the lead single from NASAAN’s debut full-length project, ERROR 404. Following the release of the video, NASAAN took to Facebook to share his reflections on the timing of the song’s release and its significance to him. ‘The release of this video got pushed back (because of other stuff), for its scheduling to be the day I lost my father 18 years ago,’ he wrote. This timing made the release an emotionally charged moment for NASAAN, who feels that his father is symbolically standing by him on his career journey. ‘I’d like to think I’ve made him proud thus far, and will continue to try my best to do so. I put blood, sweat, and tears into making this video and he knows it.’
With all these developments, the collaboration between NASAAN and Eminem is highly anticipated. Fans are eager to see what the future holds for this talented rapper who is carving out his own legacy while paying tribute to his late father.
