Sheff G and Sleepy Hallow have fired back at Peter Rosenberg after the radio host demanded they be removed from the Hot 97 Summer Jam lineup for supporting Donald Trump.
The Hot 97 personality took to the airwaves to criticize the New York drill rappers for attending a recent Trump rally in the Bronx and publicly endorsing the controversial former president. ‘I’m disgusted. Hit ’em both with the button as far as I’m concerned,’ he said, adding he contacted the station to pull them off the lineup. Sleepy Hallow is set to perform alongside artists like Doja Cat, Sexyy Red, and French Montana, while Sheff G might join during his frequent collaborator’s set.
Rosenberg showed some leniency towards Sleepy Hallow for laughing during the rally, questioning the sincerity of his endorsement. ‘You can tell it’s a big joke to him, which to me in some ways makes it worse,’ he remarked, observing that Sleepy could barely hold himself together from laughing.
Both rappers responded on social media. Sleepy Hallow, in his Instagram Stories, called Rosenberg ‘This old n-gga is d!ck eater [crying laughter emoji].’ Sheff G issued a deeper response, stating: ‘Damn.. thought we was free to vote for whoever we wanted… I never knew we had to have the same political opinion as @laurastylez @oldmanebro @rosenbergradio in order to gain success[.] Imagine that… Crazy thing is .. throughout all my success I never seen either of y’all mention my name .. y’all sat silently and watched lol ( whisper) … but as soon as something that y’all consider negative comes up, y’all quick to (shout) lol.’
Sheff didn’t stop there, concluding with: ‘Y’all the reason our generation is the way it is .. I’m not even gone say no disrespectful shit either [slight frown emoji] it’s all love [blue heart emoji] #everythinglit.’
At the Bronx rally last week, both rappers shared the stage with Trump, speaking to the crowd. Sheff emphasized, ‘One thing I wanna say… they always gonna whisper your accomplishments and shout your failures. Trump gonna shout the wins for all of us.’ Sleepy added simply, ‘Make America great again!’ drawing loud cheers. While their appearance earned praise from Trump supporters, it also sparked significant criticism. Fans speculated that the duo might be supporting Trump to gain favors, especially considering their respective legal issues.
